THE CAST OF CHARACTERS OF CORPUS SOMNIUM

Who are they?

Harry? Dr. Julius Somnius? Lucia? Luis? The Wolf? The King?

We believe that they are all mediums of sorts, energy conduits, empty vessels if you will… a gate of passage into the realm of paradoxes. Their thoughts are our thoughts and our thoughts are their thoughts… it is a way of eating the Food of the Gods.

“But are they real?” you ask.

And we reply: “What do you mean by real?”

“You know what I mean” you say mockingly: “do they have true existence?”

“Well, what exactly do you mean by ‘true’?” we reply, still genuinely confused.

Now you respond impatiently, with a tone of condescension in your voice, clearly tired of what you believe to be an attitude of nonsensical pretension on our part: “Oh, come on! Don’t be such an ass! Are they real, breathing, human beings?”

“You mean, are they physical beings? Men and women, creatures of flesh and blood? Well frankly, we don’t know. And besides, are you reducing all existence to a state of physical matter? Is there no other possibility of existing, of being? And if not, how can you be absolutely certain? Have you never loved an idea more than a living creature? Have you never believed passionately in a dream, so much so that this dream actually seemed to change your life?”

You are now so fed up with this conversation you let out an impatient grunt of some sort, wave your hand in the air as if to shoo away a fly, and leave, slamming the door behind you.

But you, reader, are thankfully still here. So let us confide in you the existence of our dear friends Harry, Julius, Lucia, Luis, the King, etc… considering the fact that you are still reading. They exist just as much as you or me, the issue is not centered on their bodily existence because they are all quite capable of taking on various forms.

So now to conclude, there is one thing that we can assure you of, dearest reader, regarding the fantastic cast of characters of Corpus Somnium: they are all somewhere in some state of becoming.

We speak with them often, and they in turn, speak with us. They have desires, whims, ideas, and knowledge of their own. They accumulate their own experiences over time, just like you and me. And the more we speak about them, the more they leave the state of becoming and “are”.
